Mexico City is trying to fight violence against women.

In 2018, there were 3,662 femicides in Mexico, according to the federal government.

The AP reports, in November, the mayor of Mexico City issued a gender violence alert and instated new measures to combat the issue.

One of them being the specialized task force for gender violence.

More than 66% of women 15 or older experience gender violence in their life, according to the Mexican Institute of Statistics and Geography.
