The internet has had plenty to say about disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein’s proposed settlement with his accusers. Some of it we can't print here.
The accused sexual harasser reached a tentative settlement of $25 million to be set aside for Weinstein's victims.
He won’t have to admit wrongdoing or pay anything himself. The money will be paid by insurance companies representing the Weinstein Company.
Time's Up, an advocacy group, had this to say on Twitter:
Lawyers representing the accusers are also criticizing the settlement.
According to CNBC, they say the “deal offers far too little money to victims, far too much cash to Weinstein’s attorneys and possibly could financially benefit Weinstein himself.”
CNBC reports, Douglas Wigdor, a lawyer for three Weinstein accusers said, “This is the worst settlement I’ve seen in my entire career.”
Yahoo news reports, some of Weinstein’s high-profile accusers, like Rose McGowan or Salma Hayek, are not included in the settlement. McGowan shared this photo, after news of the settlement was released:
The settlement still needs court approval and a sign-off by all parties for it to be finalized.
