"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" grossed a global box office total of $374 million over the weekend, with fans closing out the final chapter of the newest Disney distributed trilogy.
But, according to Reuters, the film fell short of prior starts in this latest sequel trilogy. "The Force Awakens," which debuted in 2015, opened to $517 million in the United States alone, while 2017's "The Last Jedi" made $450 million globally.
Still, "The Rise of Skywalker" grossed $176 million in the U.S. and Canada, ranking it as the 12th-biggest opening of all time.
In China, however, the film only totaled $12 million at the box office.
