With the release of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," the Disney Company has produced six of the eight highest-grossing films in 2019, according to estimates from Box Office Mojo.

Disney dominated thanks to the wide release of films in multiple genres, from comic book-based  action films ("Captain Marvel," "Avengers: Endgame") to live-action remakes of Disney animation classics ("Aladdin," "The Lion King," "Dumbo") and finishing with the biggest film of a long-standing saga ("Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker").

Even though the latest Star Wars films topped the domestic box office at $175.5 million, its opening weekend haul was lower than the previous two Star Wars films in the current trilogy.
