Roughly one-third of the world's food - mainly fruits, vegetables, roots and tubers - are discarded, according to the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization.
But one ambitious Brazilian woman has decided to do something about it. Regina Tchelly is a former maid and founder of "Favela Organica," or Organic Favela, a project that is teaching people to turn food scraps into tasty meals.
