In 2019, Turkey has had a key role in Syria as the country launched a major offensive into northern Syria in October with two ambitious goals - fighting terrorism and establishing a safe zone for the return of refugees. Ankara's moves clearly had an impact on the region that will likely continue to have implications well into 2020 especially when considering anti-terror efforts in and around Syria.
