Denmark generated almost half of its electricity in 2019 from wind power, beating its own record.

Last year, the country used 47% of its electricity from wind power. In the past decade, Denmark has steadily increased its use of window power. In 2018, the Danish people used 41% and in 2017 43%.

Denmark’s grid operator, Energinet, says the increase in wind power came from wind turbines at sea. In 2019, power increased to 18%, up 4% from the previous year.

Last year, onshore wind contributed 29% of Denmark’s power.

Denmark’s goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030. The country is also aiming to source all electricity from renewable energy in the coming years.
