Firefighters in Brazil's southeastern state of Espirito Santo say torrential rains triggered flooding and landslides that killed at least six people.

Footage shared on social media showed streets turned into muddy rivers and flash floods sweeping away cars.

Three people died in the town of Iconha and another three in Alfredo Chaves. In the latter, two elderly people died when a mudslide buried their home.

In 24 hours, Alfredo Chaves recorded rainfall levels that it normally gets over the entire month of January, local officials said.
