An explosive fire at a boat dock in Alabama has killed at least eight people.

The marina was located along the Tennessee River in northern Alabama.

The fire started early Monday morning while people were asleep.

At least 35 boats caught fire.

An aluminum roof over the marina also melted and collapsed, cutting off ways for people to flee the flames.

Several people leaped into the river to escape.

Officials said that the number of dead could grow.
