In Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, farmer's markets have been shut and only chain stores are still open. 

Supermarkets only open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — a seven-hour operation compared to over 12 hours during regular days. 

Reports suggested that some people found an unregulated price surge for fresh produce in Wuhan. 

And now, the government has firmly expressed their discontent over price surge amid the ongoing outbreak. 

Several large supermarket chains in Wuhan are trying their best to stabilize the price and continue to keep fresh products on the shelf. However, it is not easy.  

CGTN reporter visited one supermarket in Wuhan. 

The management said that for fresh produce coming within the province, the pressure is not much for the supermarket to get restock in time. 

But for products outside of the province, it might not be that easy for them to get there. 

The supermarket is running low on staff. Despite being confident that the situation will get better, they don't know how much longer they can keep their doors open.
