Xiaotangshan, a suburban Beijing hospital built in 2003 especially for SARS patients, has since become the gold standard for China's management of infectious diseases. Shanghai, for its part, also created a "Xiaotangshan" hospital the following year, and now it's the designated facility for local coronavirus patients.
