Trucks full of dates were stopped from passing the al-Karameh crossing by Israeli forces Thursday and Friday, according to the Palestinian Authority's National Economy Ministry.

Local media reports say an Israeli official confirms that Israel blocked Palestinian agriculture exports through Jordan.

The president of the Farmers Union in Jericho Governante and the Jordan Valley, Joudeh As'eed believe that the move is meant to weaken the Palestinian economy.

"We were surprised last Thursday that the Palestinian goods were returned on al-Karameh crossing (Allenby crossing) based on a decision by the Israeli defense minister of preventing the exportation of Palestinian goods, especially the agricultural goods through the Jordan crossing. This is an unjust decision and it increases the suffering of the Palestinian farmer. This is a consecutive show by the Israelis to hit the Palestinian national economy," As'eed said.

There have been rising tensions and agricultural disputes between Israel and Palestine, with both sides banning certain products from being imported from the other. 

Some Palestinians believe Israel is trying to cut them out of competing in certain international markets.

"Israel's focus on the dates, olive oil and medical herbs goods is very thought through, since these goods are the number one competitor for the Israeli products in world markets," said Hassan Shtayyeh, the CEO of Qatif Agricultural Marketing company.
