Ambassador Zhu Qingqiao says the coronavirus is China and Mexico's "common enemy."

In a meeting with Dr. Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez, Mexico's Deputy Minister of Prevention and Health Promotion, Ambassador Zhu said both countries are in "close communication" and working to safeguard "regional and global health security."

Both officials discussed the methods China and Mexico are taking to keep their citizens safe during the outbreak.

Ambassador Zhu said China has adopted comprehensive measures for disease "prevention and control," noting that the WHO praised China for "setting a new benchmark" in international cooperation.

Mexico's Deputy Minister also urged the public not to spread rumors about COVID-19 or "discriminate against Chinese or Asian citizens."
