Carnival is underway in Rio de Janeiro. Hundreds of block parties are in full swing. One of those recently held stood out for its focus beyond just fun. 

Rio de Janeiro's Philippe Pinel Psychiatric Institute is raising awareness of mental health issues.

The block party is called "Tamam pirando, pirado, pirou" – "Getting crazy, crazy, got crazy."

All the props, costumes and masks are made at the institute to help patients develop their creativity and self-awareness.

Carnival officially runs from Feb 21st to Feb 26th.
