A gunman opened fire and killed five people before taking his own life on Wednesday on the Molson Coors Brewing Company campus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Police Department said in a press conference.

The shooter was identified as a 51-year-old Milwaukee man. All of the victims and the suspect were current employees of Molson Coors, said the police.

U.S. President Donald Trump sent his condolences to the victim's families before briefing the media on measures to fight the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Police earlier confirmed on Twitter that a "critical incident" was being investigated. There is no longer an active threat, but the scene was described as an "active situation."

The shooting occurred at a sprawling complex, which includes a mix of corporate offices and brewing facilities. At least 600 people work at the complex, the Associated Press reported.
