Argentina's president Alberto Fernandez used his first state of the nation address on Sunday to announce his government will seek to legalise abortion. 

Fernandez promised a socially progressive agenda in his address to Congress, with focus on combating hunger and poverty. 

But much of the success of his policies to reverse the effects of a biting recession depend on successful negotiations with creditors this month.
