Earlier this month the U.S. Trade Representative revoked the 'developing nation' status of more than 20 countries - including China. 

This removes some special privileges those countries received - and makes it easier for the U.S. to launch investigations of countries suspected of unfairly subsidizing exports. Brazil is another nation on the list.
