A senior Brazilian official who attended weekend events with President Donald Trump in Florida has tested positive for the coronavirus. This is the first time someone known to have the virus was in close proximity to the American president. Trump does not plan to be tested or go into self-quarantine, the White House said.
Last week, Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro visited the U.S. state of Florida and had a meeting with President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. The two reportedly shook hands, with Bolsonaro's communications secretary Fabio Wajngarten, who later tested positive for the virus, standing next to Trump and Vice President Mike Pence and posing for a picture which he posted on his Instagram account.

U.S. Press Secretary, Stephanie Grisham, released a statement following reports covering the proximity between Trump and Wajngarten.
"Both the President and Vice President had almost no interactions with the individual who tested positive and do not require being tested at this time."
Bolsonaro has been tested for the coronavirus after returning from the U.S. and is currently waiting for the results.
Doctors are worried that Bolsonaro may be asymptomatic, carrying the disease without showing the symptoms. Medical professionals are recommending Bolsonaro to remain in the presidential palace until March 21, his 65th birthday.
