Washington DC, is among major U.S. cities scrambling to battle the spread of COVID-19, declaring a state of emergency, closing schools and advising workers to telework where possible.
Items thought to help ward off infection, like face masks, hand sanitizer and gloves are out of stock at most retail locations in the D.C. metropolitan region. That's where Adilisha Patrom comes in. She's opened a pop-up shop dedicated to fighting COVID-19 in northeast Washington, using stocks of supplies she started collecting after her father was diagnosed with cancer in December.
In addition to selling anti-viral products, Patrom also strives to educate the public on COVID-19, by fielding questions and handing out flyers produced by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
