U.S. Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden pledged to select a female vice president if he is the nominee.

Biden made the announcement during last night's debate with Senator Bernie Sanders. 

"If I’m elected president, my cabinet, my administration, will  look like the country," Biden said. "And I commit that I will... pick a woman to be Vice President."

When asked if he would do the same, Sanders said he would most likely select a female running mate as well, provided she has progressive politics.

"For me it’s not just nominating a woman, it is making sure that we have a progressive woman, and there are progressive women out there," Sanders said.
