To comply with social distancing guidelines as much as possible during this COVID-19 pandemic, many of our own correspondents are now working from home.

Although many of them are not able to interview news subjects in person, they employ various techniques to make their reporting easier.

Among those adapting to the new challenges is CGTN's Karina Huber, who is based in New York City, the epicenter of the outbreak in the Unites States.

She regularly uses Zoom software to communicate with experts and uses her own smartphone during live shots. However, when she has to conduct interviews outdoors, she makes sure to put on disposable gloves and an N95 mask, while maintaining a 6-foot (1.8 meter) social distance with all subjects.

Other correspondents, including Jim Spellman based in Washington, DC, and Mark Niu based in the San Francisco Bay Area, have developed their own creative ways to report from home, including using a garage studio and putting a GoPro on a tripod.

Our reporters note that although there is no question COVID-19 has made their work more challenging, they are confident that these new ways of delivering the news do not diminish the high-quality content our audience demands.
