The number of deaths in the U.S. from COVID-19 has reached 10,781, while the number of cases in the country reached 364,723. The number of infections globally hit 1,341,907.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved into an intensive care unit as he battles coronavirus. A statement from No 10 Downing Street said that Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab would take temporary charge of the country.

"Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit," the statement said. Johnson, 55, had been taken to St Thomas's hospital in London on Sunday for what his team described as precautionary tests after failing to shake off the virus following a positive test two weeks ago.

U.S. President Donald Trump offered his best wishes to Johnson, who Trump said was, "a very good friend of mine".

The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said that U.S. hospitals are in severe shortage of medical resources. Trump said that a report from his own administration that hospitals don't have adequate testing and supplies is wrong, and then he accused the HHS inspector general of being involved in a political plot against him.

U.S. stocks surge 7%, building on a global rally, on early signs that rate of increase in virus deaths could be slowing.

The U.S. state of Wisconsin's Supreme Court ruled that the governor cannot postpone the presidential primary election, despite outbreak fears. The state's Democratic Gov. Tony Evers had issued an order delaying Tuesday's primary election until June because of the coronavirus pandemic.
