China considers amending wildlife protection law

China's top legislature, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, is set to amend the law on wildlife protection this year. 

The decision, announced in February, came just as the coronavirus started to spread in the country and around the world. 

Many virologists believe COVID-19 was likely transmitted to humans from wild animals.
