Estimates are roughly one in five people who contract COVID-19 require hospitalization. 

Many of those patients depend on ventilators to help them breathe. But there are concerns there may not be enough of those devices should COVID-19 cases spike. 

So hospitals and even private individuals have come up with workarounds to address the potential need.
