The U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation on Thursday, providing $480 billion in COVID-19 relief for small businesses, hospitals and medical testing.
Next the bill heads to President Trump, who says he will sign it into law.
This comes as the U.S. reaches historic unemployment rates.
1 in 6 U.S. workers are now unemployed because of COVID-19.
About 26 million people have filed for unemployment benefits over the past five weeks, which has led to debate over lifting COVID-19 restrictions to get the U.S. back to work.
U.S. federal vaccine scientist, Rick Bright, says he will file a whistleblower complaint after being demoted from his position as director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority.
Bright says it was retaliation for resisting a COVID-19 treatment pushed by U.S. President Trump.
U.S. Representative Anna Eshoo, the chairwoman of the House’s Health subcommittee, says she will investigate Bright’s removal as director of BARDA.
