A special ceremony was staged Monday at Shanghai Disneyland to celebrate the theme park's reopening after 107 days of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In light of continued concerns, the park is limiting its capacity to 30 percent. Tourists must book tickets online and have their temperatures checked upon entering the park. They must also show their local health clearance codes, and all visitors are required to wear face masks.Shanghai Disneyland is the first Disney resort complex to reopen among its six parks around the world.

Andrew Bolstein, senior vice president of operations for Shanghai Disneyland, said that although the park was closed for more than three months, staff members returned to work at the end of February in preparation for reopening. "During the closure period, we had a very dedicated team of cast members. From the operations group and other areas, we're here every day maintaining the park and the resort, making sure that it was safe and still at the show quality levels and the safety levels that we want to be able to provide," he said.

Right now, tourists have access to most of the park's attractions, including rides, some live shows, stores and restaurants. Theater shows, however,  are canceled, while the daily float parade has been downsized considerably, featuring only Mickey Mouse and a few friends.

The Shanghai Disney Resort announced its temporary closure in late January in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. It reopened the adjacent Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel in early March.
