More than 1,900 former employees for the U.S. Justice Department are calling for the resignation for Attorney General William Barr, in an open letter.
In an open letter, it states that Barr "once against assaulted the rule of law" by dropping the case against President Donald Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty in December 2017 to lying to the FBI about his interactions with a Russian ambassador during the presidential transition.
Organized by nonprofit group, Protect Democracy, the letter was signed by Justice Department staffers who served in both Republican and Democratic administrations – dating as far back as President Dwight D. Eisenhower in the 1950's.
The organization has sent several similar letters critical of Barr's actions during the Trump administration, the most recent in February, which collected over 2,600 signatures calling for Barr's resignation for another case related to the Russian investigation.
The latest letter says that the signers "continue to believe that it would be best for the integrity of the Justice Department and for our democracy for Attorney General Barr to step aside."
