Since U.S. President Donald Trump advocated the drug hydroxychloroquine as a possible treatment for COVID-19, many lupus patients have struggled to get the medicine many of them say they cannot live without.

U.S. government health officials have reported a shortage of the medication even though trials have yet to prove its efficacy against COVID-19.
