The COVID-19 outbreak has taken a toll on many children both physically and mentally. Many kids with COVID-19 didn't see their parents for months while being treated in children's hospital.
It's International Nurses Day, and Li Wenqing - a nurse who worked at Wuhan Children's Hospital - shared her story about caring for children during the outbreak.
Li was one of more than 500 nurses who cared for children with COVID-19 symptoms at Wuhan Children's Hospital. She had just given birth to her second child three months before, but she still joined the fight against the virus.
The youngest child Li cared for was Dongdong, a one-month old baby infected with COVID-19. All of Dongdong's family members became infected and nobody could see him. Li and the other nurses became the baby's temporary mothers.
Wuhan Children's Hospital was the only hospital in the city treating young COVID-19 patients.
By April 1st, over 700 children with suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases had recovered and had been discharged from the hospital.
