The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body, has concluded its annual session on May 27 in Beijing.
In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, the CPPCC has received nearly 300 proposals related to pandemic response from political advisers. Top priorities are put on improving the country's public health emergency management and overall governance system.
A fast track for handling the pandemic-related proposals has been established to ensure those ideas can be dealt with promptly and effectively.
Public health, economic recovery and poverty alleviation are the key issues at the meeting. And the closing session is not a full stop, but rather a new beginning for China's policy-makers to implement effective measures to get the country moving after the COVID-19 pandemic.
