After a three-month shutdown, New York City has started to reopen.

In New York City, over 200,000 people contracted the virus. 53,000 were hospitalized and there were more than 20,000 confirmed and suspected COVID-19 deaths.

The economic toll on the city has been severe. The unemployment rate hit 14% in April. Many are struggling to pay the rent.
