The U.S. Trump administration has issued a rule that will rollback healthcare protections for transgender people under the Affordable Care Act.

Under the new rule, set to take effect in mid-August, healthcare providers will be able to deny services to transgender people. 

The Human Rights Campaign plans plans to sue the Trump administration over the move, calling it discriminatory.

Meanwhile, the LGBTQ community won a separate legal battle involving discrimination Monday.

The U.S. Supreme Court announced a landmark decision upholding workplace protections for gay and transgender employees.

In a 6 to 3 ruling, the court stated that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 also protects sexual orientation and transgender status.

Before the decision, it was legal in more than half the U.S. states to fire a worker for being gay, bisexual or transgender.
