The Brazilian state of Sao Paulo established a partnership with a Chinese laboratory Sinovac to run a Phase III clinical trial for a coronavirus vaccine.
Phase III is large-scale-a trial involving thousands of people.
If the candidate vaccine proves safe and effective, it could be licensed and mass produced in Brazil.
