Racist discovery at NASCAR racetrack

Updated 2020.06.23 07:09 GMT+8

NASCAR officials say a noose was discovered in driver Bubba Wallace’s garage stall.

Wallace, NASCAR's only full-time African American driver, called on the organization to ban the Confederate flag earlier this month.

Wallace said, "and it brings back so many bad memories, signs of oppression from, from way back when. And it's just there's no good that comes with that flag."

The flag is controversial in the U.S. For many people it symbolizes white supremacy, while others say it represents their southern roots.

NASCAR banned the Confederate flag at its races just eleven days ago.Wallace responded on Twitter calling the noose, "a despicable act of racism and hatred."

But he also said, "This will not break me, I will not give in nor will I back down."
