U.S. landlords sue against eviction ban – while homelessness rises

As a result of the pandemic, the State of California has issued moratoriums on residential evictions in order to protect tenants who may have lost their jobs and are struggling to pay rent.

And the City of Los Angeles has provided further relief by allowing rent freezes and deferred payments.

A move that is now being challenged by one of the strongest landlords' union in the country, as they sue the city over what they claim is a violation of their fifth amendment property rights.

This comes as experts warn that the potential evictions could significantly exacerbate what is already one of the biggest crisis in Los Angeles.
