A 25-minute drive from the Washington state capital Olympia, is Tenino. It's home to just 1,800 people.

The town's economy has been hit hard by COVID-19, so it's reviving a Depression era currency, made of wood, to survive the economic fallout.

The currency is around the size of and index card, and printed using the original 1890s era press.

Residents receive up to $300 a month in the wooden currency from the city as part of Tenino's stimulus program.
