Virtual school has become the new normal around the globe because of the coronavirus pandemic.

For many students and teachers in Venezuela, virtual lessons are a challenge, because they lack basic tools to communicate with each other.

Without a smartphone or an internet connection, teachers are using their older model phones to call each child individually. Some students bring their assignments to their teachers' homes, unable to transmit them electronically.

To improve the situation, a local school has started up a program called Teachers On The Phone, using contributions from private companies and individuals to help buy each teacher a smartphone.
