Delaware city removes whipping post

People gathered to watch the removal of a whipping post from a Delaware county courthouse square on Wednesday.
The post was used for binding and whipping people publicly for committing crimes until 1952, according to the Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs. The group also says Black people were disproportionately punished. Studies show, this still occurs in modern policing.
