Keeping isolated Amazon groups safe from COVID-19

The Uatuma Sustainable Development Reserve is about as isolated as a place can be.

Located in Brazil's Amazon state, it is 300 km from the nearest city, Manaus.

That does not mean it is completely protected from COVID-19. Residents have been isolating to prevent the spread of the virus. They are depending on outside aid for food and other essentials.

A coalition of NGOs, universities, state government and other institutions has been answering the call.
