Scientists alarmed by extreme weather trends in South America

Widespread intense droughts and unusually wet periods have been on the rise since the mid-20th century in South America, according to new research.

Scientists have reconstructed 600 years of soil-moisture swings across southern and central South American and researchers are alarmed by the trends they are observing.
