Sales of new cars sank when the pandemic hit the U.S.  

It dropped 45% in March, compared to the same month of 2019 according to research firm J.D. Power. 

The following months, sales rebounded due to promotions and federal stimulus checks. 

Now the industry faces another dilemma, how to keep the factories running.
