UN General Assembly president calls on the world to fight COVID-19 together

COVID-19 continues to spread across the world. Data compiled from Johns Hopkins University reports there are more than 23 million confirmed cases and nearly 815,000 deaths on Tuesday.

CGTN interviewed Mr. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, the President of the UN General Assembly about the COVID-19 pandemic and how China plays a key role in the world today.

He believes that it's very important for all countries to create a vaccine together and help each other. 

"I think the pandemic has brought this very clearly to the center of our understanding. We have to work together to solve problems," he said.

He also said China has plays a major role in the economic and social progress of the world. "What's important to a country of one billion people pulling together to get people out of poverty is a major contribution." He added.
