A deadly night of protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin… as two people were killed a third is seriously wounded. Police in neighboring Illinois on Wednesday arrested 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse on suspicion of first degree murder.
Tuesday, police used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse protestors, demonstrating for a third straight night. The protests were sparked after police shot an unarmed Black man, Jacob Blake, multiple times on Sunday. His family says Blake is now paralyzed from the waist down.
Groups, including civil rights leader Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow/Push organization are calling on the demonstrations to be peaceful. "We have made some of our greatest gains by public peaceful protests without violence, without burning, without looting," said Bishop Tavis Grant, National Field Director, Rainbow PUSH Coalition. "The individuals that lost their lives last night and the one that is clinging on. Their lives matter too. It is not about taking the lives of anybody."
