Trading app Robinhood first emerged in 2013. Its popularity has since boomed amassing more than 13 million users – the majority of them millennials – many of whom have never traded before. The company is currently valued at around $13 billion.

The company may be a darling of Silicon Valley but it’s also caught the eye of legislators who worry it’s encouraging people to take on excessive bets without understanding the risks.
