COVID-19 could worsen education gap in U.S.

As the U.S. state of California grapples with a high number of COVID-19 cases, most schools began their fall semester with distance learning.

Many parents are taking the time to help their children with their virtual education or even hire private tutors to make up for the loss.

But lower-income families are not in a position to allocate additional resources. This could result in a widening gap in education and exacerbate economic inequalities
