Human trafficking continues to be an ongoing global crisis

Last week, nearly 40 missing and endangered children were rescued by U.S. federal and state agents in the U.S. state of Georgia from a sex trafficking ring.

Recently, more scrutiny has been placed on the crisis of human trafficking, especially for children who end up in the sex trafficking industry. What are the causes that put so many children and adults in danger? And how can people better understand human trafficking?

Kathleen Kim, associate dean for Equity and Inclusion and a professor of Law at Loyola Marymount University, discusses human trafficking, the causes behind the crisis and what is being done to save people from the dangerous industry.
