Wildfires have spread up and down the U.S. West Coast, razing millions of acres, destroying thousands of houses, forcing evacuations and threatening many lives. At least 24 people are reported dead from the fires and more have been reported missing.

Along with the destruction, thick blankets of black smoke have contributed to some of the worst air quality of the region in decades. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services declared a public health emergency for the state of Oregon, while the city of Portland has the worst air quality in the world, according to a new report, ahead of cities like Shanghai and Delhi.

See the latest damage that the fires have done to the region and how climate change has exacerbated the problem.
