The U.S. college experience this fall will be unlike any other. 

Many schools won’t be offering in-person instruction. Others won't allow students to board on campus. 

At the same time, few schools are offering tuition discounts. 

With the college experience so severely altered this year, a record number of U.S. students are considering taking a so-called "gap year."
