Wide areas of Brazil's Pantanal wetlands are on fire, amid a record-setting wildfire season.

More than 15,000 fires have been recorded this year - triple the number recorded during the same time last year.

An untold number of native animals from jaguars to capuchin monkeys have perished in the biodiverse region while thick and harmful smoke is impacting populated areas as well.
