As the COVID-19 pandemic hits American universities, some have had to curtail, suspend or even drop athletic programs.

Many are worried that could be a huge blow to their Olympic dreams.

Take California’s Stanford University, which had a nearly $28 billion endowment in 2019, yet still chose to drop 11 sports.
